Police Rescues Suspected Ritualist From Angry Mob In Warri

Prompt arrival of the men of the Nigeria Police Force Delta State Command saved a shabbily dressed man from being mistaken as a ritualistic on assignment in Warri, Delta State.

The man who many thought was a mad man because of his look and dressing suddenly attracted a mammoth crowd to himself.

His ordeal started when someone that knows him somewhere saw him, identified him not to be mad and raised the alarm.

The incident happened recently along the popular Airport Road in oil rich city of Warri.

The alarm made people to show concern about the suspicious move of the man many had concluded to be a mad man.

Before you could say Jack Robinson, passersby had gathered in their numbers to interrogate the suspicious mad man and in the process saw items that will not ordinarily be found on a mad man.

Sourcess said, “We thought that he is a lunatic, because he dressed and look like one by his appearance, but when someone who knows him raised the alarm that he is not a lunatic, then people around stopped him and started asking question.

“People asking him question became angry when they saw phones, money including dollars on him. When he was about to be set ablaze, the police came in and rescued him from the hands of the angry youths and then took him away”.

When contacted for comment, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident, saying that, “yes, the police arested someone pretending to be a lunatic. But, can’t say if he’s a rictualist. Some amount of money was seen in his hand.”

“He’s in the police custody as we speak. But, the police want to take him to the local government council, so they know what to do with him.”
