Two Catholic Priests kidnap in Delta

Two Catholic priests have been abducted by gunmen in Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

This reporter gathered that, the priests, Rev. Fr. Raphael Ogigbah, parish priest of St. Francis Agbarha-Otor, Warri Diocese and Rev Fr. Kunav Chochos, Schoenstartt Fathers, from Ibadan, Oyo State, were whisked away at about 9:pm on Saturday while returning from visitation near Ibru College gate, in Agbarha-Otor community near Ughelli.

 

According to a statement by Very Rev. Fr. Okereke Kingsley Kizito, “Our brother Fr. Chochos Kunay, Schoenstatt Fathers, lives and works in Ibadan.
“However, he travelled to Warri to visit his friend Fr. Raphael Ogigba of the Catholic diocese of Warri and the Parish priest of St. Francis Agbara Otor, Ughelli North, Delta State.
“Unfortunately, after a short visit to the priest in a nearby parish both Fr. Chochos Kunav and Fr. Raphael Ogigba were kidnapped last night on their way back to the Parish of Fr. Raphael.
“The incident occurred on the road, in front of Ibru University Agbarha- Otor. We ask for intense prayers for quick and safe release.”

When contacted,  the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright who confirmed the incident said, “We are seriously on their trail.”
