FUPRE To Install Akarigbo of Remo Land As Chancellor

Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE)Delta State has as part
of activities to mark the 3rd convocation ceremony is set to install His Royal Majesty , Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo & Paramount Ruler of Remo Land as the new Chancellor of the University.

This was disclosed by Dr. ( Engr.) Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun(FUPRE) at a media briefing, he said that 1,409 students
will be graduating at the ceremony slated for Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Prof. Akpofure also disclosed that the University. Would confer honorary doctorate degrees on five prominent Nigerians who have contributed immensely to the overall growth and development of the nation’s economy.

According to Prof. Akpofure, “Iam elated to inform you that the 3rd Convocation ceremony, a total of 1,409(made up of 1,201 First Degrees, 101 Post Graduate Diploma and107 Masters Degrees) graduands will be receiving their certificates from our two Colleges and the School of Post Graduate Studies. These figures comprised of First Class 24 and Second Class Upper Division 438, Second Class Lower Division 619 and Third Class Degrees 120 respectively.”

The Vice Chancellor added, “this 3rd Convocation is so significant to us as University because it will feature the installation of His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatude Adewale Ajayi, Akarigbo & Paramount Ruler of Remo Land as the new Chancellor of our prestigious institution, the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State.”

On the honorary degrees, Prof. Akpofure said, “we have as a University identified five prominent Nigerians that have contributed immensely to the growth of the nations economy for the award of honorary doctorate of FUPRE . Among them are Engr. Rotimi Williams Ajileye ,a dynamic Chief Executive with a penchant for excellence successfully leading a team of diverse professionals, Mr. Alfred Irabor Okoigu , Group Managing Director of Arco Group Plc, Mrs. Owen Omogiafo, President and Group CEO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria(Transcorp), Sir Monday John Onyeme, Chartered Accountant per excellence and Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) and Engr. Daniel Elozino Omoyibo, an Ambassador of Peace, Chief Executive Officer of Danmotech Limited,.”

Prof. Akpofure spoke further that, in line with the new objective to bring the industries
on board, there will be a roundtable where Petroleum industry experts will be discussing a topic: ” Facilitating a formidable industry, government and academia partnership to foster energy sector innovation” and ” Energy transition: Offshore Asset Divestment by
l0Cs—Whats next for Nigerian indigenous companies and local content .”

According to Engr Prof Akpofure, the key points highlighted above will be deeply looked into professionally and pragmatically to position the Petroleum industry in Nigeria in line with the reality of the moment and the challenges of tomorrow.
