Members of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), have called on those who lost at the recently concluded governorship election in Delta State, to jettison their litigation and join forces with the governor-elect, Rt. Hon.  Sheriff Oborevwori to move the state forward.
The National President-elect, NADESSTU,  Comrade Wiska Monday, made the call at a media parley with members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Asaba, saying the students community will cooperate and work with the incoming governor for the overall development of the state.
Comrade Wiska while celebrating the out-going Governor of Delta State,  Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for finishing strong,  congratulated Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on his victory at the polls and wished him a hitch free tenure as he takes over the mantle of leadership of the oil rich state come May 29, 2023.
NADESSTU thereby pray the incoming governor to avoid appointment of multiple aides to manage the students as the current division, infighting and crisis within the students community currently in the state were largely caused by the multiple persons appointed as aides to students affairs.
They therefore urged the in-coming governor to appoint  critical aides who is a former student leader that will be given the responsibility to coordinate the students community.
NADESSTU also demanded the incoming governor, “Should prioritize the downward review of school fees across Delta State own institutions to reduce the suffering of our parents and encourage our students to return back to school. This is because the rate of students dropping out of school as a result of inability to pay school fees is becoming alarming.”
“We encourage the incoming governor to consider UPWARD bursary and scholarships review within the state to mitigate the current economic situation of our dear country.”
While congratulating the newly constituted Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), they pray that the DESOPADEC scholarship scheme be expanded to accommodate students yearly in the oil producing areas in the state.
Comrade Wiska, assured Delta State students that they will no longer see the Egyptians the saw before, adding that his administration will ensure that all the challenges enumerated during his consultative visit will be handled to the best of his administration ability.
“WE’RE AWARE OF THE EXTERNAL FORCES THAT ARE WORKING TIRELESSLY TO UNDERMINE THIS ASSOCIATION FOR THEIR PECUNIARY GAINS BY  MOBILIZING AND IMPERSONATING OUR NATIONAL EXECUTIVE WITH NON-STUDENT ALL IN A BID TO COVER THEIR DIRTY TRACKS AND BURRY THE CONVERSATIONS AROUND THEIR UNFAITHFUL DEALINGS WITH THE STUDENTS.”
“I MUST UNEQUIVOCALLY STATE THAT THE ERA OF TRADING WITH THE NAME OF STUDENTS AND OBTAINING FUNDS IN FROM THE STATE GOVERNMENT AND DIVERTING SAME FOR PERSONAL USE IS OVER, GOING FORWARD, THESE  UNHOLY ACT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND THOSE INVOLVED IN THE PAST SHOULD GET READY TO ACCOUNT FOR THESE FUNDS WITH THE RELEVANT SECURITY AND FINANCIAL CRIME AGENCY.”
“WE ARE NOT UNAWARE OF THE 25 MILLION NAIRA RELEASE ANNUALLY FOR THE SAKE OF STUDENTS TOWN HALL MEETINGS THROUGH THE OFFICE OF THE SSA TO THE GOVERNOR ON STUDENTS AFFAIRS THAT HAVE BEEN USUALLY DIVERTED FOR PERSONAL USE. I WANT TO ASSURE THAT EVERY MONEY RECEIVED IN THE NAME OF DELTA STATE STUDENTS WILL BE ACCOUNTED FOR IN DUE COURSE.”
“WE WANT TO ALSO ASSURE THAT EVERY REVENUE ACCRUED TO THE STUDENTS FROM DUES AT SOURCE WILL BE USED JUDICIOUS TO ADVANCE THE COURSE AND WELFARE OF DELTA STATE STUDENTS AND SHALL BE PROPERLY ACCOUNTED FOR TO ENGENDER TRANSPARENCY OF THIS ASSOCIATION AND WILL ENSURE THOSE FOUND CULPABLE FOR USING THE DUES ACCRUED TO THE DELTA STATE STUDENTS TO ENRICH THEMSELVES UNLAWFULLY BE BROUGHT TO BOOK TO ACCOUNT FOR THESE FUNDS.”
