COVID-19: Udu Council Boss Flags Off 2nd Dose of AstraZeneca Vaccine

Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Chief Jite Brown has flagged off the First Phase of the Second Dose of COVID-19 vaccine to ensure that the pandemic is totally erased from the area.

The flag-off ceremony which was held at the Udu Local Government Counc Secretariat had in attendance, Hon. Mrs. Eloho Awinoron, Vice Chairman Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Saturday Mofoye, Vice Chairman, PDP Udu Local Government Area, Mr. Samuel Dawho, Udu Local Government Secretary Designate, Head of Udu Local Government Primary Health Care, Dr. Henry Owhojedo, Hon Ernest Mereh, Supervisor for Finance and other top council staff in attendance.

In his speech during the event, Hon. Jite Brown, Chairman of Udu Local Government Council said the second dose was to ensure the full vaccination (two doses) of those who had already received the first dose of the vaccine as recommended by its manufacturer, AstraZeneca.

Chief Brown who received his second dose, reiterated that he will ensure that every resident of Udu Local Government Area who receives a vaccine from their initial supply receives their second dose within the recommended time frame.

Head of Health Department, Udu Local Government Council, Dr. Henry Owhojedo, on his part assured that the vaccine, AstraZeneca has been tested and approved by Word Health Organisation (WHO) and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria.

He noted that both agencies discovered that AstraZeneca vaccine improve the level of immunity of individual and even when a person is affected, the severity is much more lesser.
