The Delta State Chapter of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights,CDHR on April 21st , 2021, elected into office new leaders into office to pilot its affairs in the next two years.
Those elected into office includes,Chief (Elder) Peter Ediarese, Comrade Israel Joe and Comrade Harrison Itulua.
They were returned as newly elected Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the Delta State Chapter of the CDHR respectively.
The election was held in Warri under the supervision of the CDHR’s National Chairman, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana who was ably represented by Comrade Henry Ekine Esq, National Publicity Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Elder Peter Ediarese, assured the organization that it’s activities will be enhanced by his enthronement as Chairman.
He said,”We are going to be diligent, we are going to be proactive, we are going to be courageous, we are going to see that everything for which CDHR was created is upheld.”
“There’s no going back. We will not deviate from what our national leaders have already put down. We shall always move on along with them.”
CDHR’s National Chairman, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana in his remarks, urged the new Delta State leadership to uphold the objectives of the Committee.
Dr. Obayuwana who was represented by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Henry Ekine Esq said, “it is clearly established in the Constitution of the CDHR and that includes upholding the rights of citizens, promoting the rights of citizens , defending and protecting the rights of all citizens at all times
“Ensuring and enhancing good governance, transparency, accountability and off course, ensuring that there is accountability by those who occupy positions in Government. Ensuring that citizens have responsibility towards the State. That’s you also have to respect the rights of others. We believe that where your rights end, that’s where another person’s right begins”.
