……….As Delta Monarch Confers Chieftaincy Title On Him, Wife.

The Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, has stressed on the need for Nigerians to further build on things that straighten unity between the south and northern part of Nigeria and promoting national integration in the country.

Governor Ganduje made the observation while speaking af him and his wife, Her Excellency. Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje received conferment of chieftaincy title, Olorogun (Erukugbe of Olomu Kingdom)and his wife Olorogun (Omamo-aye of Olomu Kingdom) by His Royal Majesty Ovie Dr. R. L Ogbon, Ogoni, Oghoro 1. Rayal Canon, PhD+ 00N, the Ohworode of the ancient Olomu Kingdom/Chairman, Ukoko R’ vie Run Urhobo Delta State Nigeria.

The ceremony which took place at the palace of the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom weekend, was witnessed by a large turnout of Chiefs of Olomu Kingdom, top Government officials from Kano state, family members of Ganduje, politicians and well wishers.

In his acceptance speech shortly after receiving the title, the Kano state Governor, Ganduje said, ” Today history has been made, which is necessary for the development of our country. I could recalled when the formal head of state , General Yakubu Gowan created and implemented the national youths service corps, it was a policy used to institutionalized national integration.

“Effectively, 1973 i was a student in Amadubelo University when the NYNC was introduced many of us who are students reacted negatively some of us who are young students, we demonstrated in favour of the National youth service corps not knowing that it was a real policy to institutionalize National integration.

“When some of us were posted to the northern part of this country we protested, we say we must be posted to the Southern part of this country. But I was lucky enough. I was posted to Bendel state and i was posted to Isoko Area.

“Most of the time we used to come to warri then the commercial capital of Delta area, it was so motivating, many people were coming to see us as northerners, to pray for us, to greet us, so some were bringing various type of food to us free of charge. It was that time I knew plantain, I thought plantain was a big banana, some where bringing snail’s, goat and Ukodo.

“Really they loved us and we love them too, even after I left, we were still exchanging pleasantries, that is why am in love with the Urhobos, am in love with Isoko, am in love with the Itsekiri what else do you need in Delta State. So, that particular impression is still in me to all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, ethnicity, culture and religion, that is what it should be. What you have done today is to further solidify and make that policy a reality in Nigeria.”

“There is no doubt this chieftaincy title there is history behind it. When late General Oneya was posted to Kano State to serve as military administrator after the demise of the former military administrator through air crash, Col, Mohamed Wasei, I was a commissioner under Col, Mohamed Wasei, when Oneya was posted to Kano to be a military administrator, he desolved the cabinets, and I was reinstated. We became so close because Oneya, we used to call him Abubaka because Kano people love him so much that they used to call him Abubaka , he became so friendly with us, a very hard Working man.”

” Later on he was posted to Benue state as military administrator. A new administrator. came, General Omeya of blessed memory also re- appointed me. So I worked with three different administrators, unfortunately all of them are late now. I maintain good relationship with their families all of them and a living example is the one here, maintain good relationship with the son here up till now.”

“And later in order to take the relationship to a higher level I promoted him to special adviser in charge of Lagos affairs.

“So your royal majesty you can see how Nigeria can be promoted for National integration. Unbehalf of myself and my wife and the entire people of Kano state we are very, very grateful for this coronation. I am happy that the interpretation of the title is let us work together. As far as I’m concerned is naturally means that Nigerians are together as one”. Kano state Governor said.
