GMA Honours Ex-cadet, Andikan for Emerging Best Student of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, MAN

The Global Maritime Academy,GMA in Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, on February 4th, 2022, honoured an ex-cadet, Miss Udoh Andikan with an award of recognition for her outstanding academic performance during her stay as a cadet at the institution.

This is coming as a total of eighty one persons graduated from the institute just as one hundred and fifty cadets also matriculated into the various programmes of the institution.

The institution presented the award to the ex-cadet at the just concluded 2021/2022 Matriculation/convocation ceremony.

The Rector of Global Maritime Academy (GMA), Dr. Mike Egbago in an interview with Our Correspondent said the institution presented the award to the ex-cadet for making the school proud as an ambassador.

He said the ex-cadet who was overall best graduating student of the Global Maritime Academy, GMA during her national Diploma programme repeated the same feat and excelled as the Overall best graduating student of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria,MAN, Oron in Akwa-Ibom State where she bagged several awards.

Dr. Egbago said the ex-cadet has made the Global Maritime Academy GMA proud as an ambassador.

According to him, “this is to show that we don’t just award certificates to students. Students go through rigorous trainings here in Global Maritime Academy, GMA.”

Dr. Egbago appealed to the matriculants to be very committed to their studies as well as the institute’s programmes so as to make the institution, their families and society proud.

He added that the students are expected to exhibit a very high level of discipline within and outside the school environment.

In an interview with Our Correspondent,GMA Ex-Cadet, Miss Udoh Andikan expressed happiness that her efforts has been crowned with glory by the Global Maritime Academy,GMA.

Miss Andikan specially thanked GMA’s management for the honour and for rewarding her efforts.

She noted that upon her admission at GMA, she was faced with health crisis and no one thought she could make but for the encouragement of some of the lecturers, she emerged the overall best student.

“During my stay here,I was the overall best graduating student for 2017 session and also when I furthered my studies at HND programme, I also came out best graduating cadet in maritime transport and business management in Maritime Academy of Nigeria,MAN, Oron.”

She urged the matriculants to be determined and focused in their studies.

According to her,”Don’t be distracted by anything. Aim for the star. Aim for the sky and definitely, the sky will be your limit. My word for them and that has been the only thing that has kept me going. Don’t settle for less.”

The Registrar of GMA, Mr. Dafe Ogunje JP also hailed the ex-cadet for her outstanding academic performance at the institution.

He disclosed that 150 students matriculated while 81 others convocated.

Earlier, GMA’s Director of Training & Consultancy, Mrs. Olasimbo Aghenu hailed the ex-cadets for making GMA very proud as a good ambassador.

She said the ex-cadet was faced with serious health challenges during her stay at GMA and they were very much afraid.

She stated that they encouraged her and she emerged the overall best graduating student of GMA during her time.

Elated Mrs. Aghenu noted that, Miss Andikan repeated the feat at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria,MAN, Oron as she emerged the overall best graduating student as she cling various awards.

She celebrated the ex-cadet as she urged the matriculants take their studies very serious.

Present at the event were the member representing the people of Ughelli North/Ughelli South &Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, represented by Prince Frank Ugen, Dr. Christopher.A. Idibie of Edwin Clark University,Kiagbodo and Engr. Omoh Christopher(MNSE).
