The Plateau State chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, has alleged exclusion in the selection of beneficiaries of the N500 million palliative donation by the First Lady, Remi Tinubu.
Mrs Tinubu had on Tuesday, during a sympathy visit to the state, announced the donation of N500million to 500 families affected by the Plateau crisis across the five local government areas of Mangu, Bokkos, Barikin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South in the state.
But the JNI, in a statement by its Director ICT/NGO Matters, Lawal Ishaq, alleged that the list of the beneficiary families was lopsided.
According to the statement, there is no single Muslim beneficiary in the list.
While raising questions on the sincerity of the Plateau State government towards providing a lasting solution to the crisis in the state, the JNI alleged partiality in compiling the list of the beneficiaries.
“Many Islamic leaders as well as Fulani herdsmen express displeasures and disappointment over an outright exclusion of Muslims, and lopsided nature of the list of 500 families that were victims of the recent round of crisis in five local government areas of Plateau state.
“To many Muslims and Fulani leaders dismay, when the list of beneficiaries was unveiled by the Plateau state government, there is no single Muslim beneficiary in the list.
“This is unfortunate because it is on record that so many Muslims, including lots of Fulani herdsmen were displaced by the crisis, especially in Mangu LGA where the crisis took a religious dimension,” the JNI added.
