Obi – Ayagha Community Inaugurates New Executive

The Obi-Ayagha Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has inaugurated new executive members to pilot the affairs of the Community in the next two years.

Barr. Pius Oshoture who emerged the New Chairman after a keenly contested election was inaugurated with other executive members during the general meeting at the community town hall.

Those sworn-in to run the affairs of the community with Barr. Pius Oshoture are Pastor Orhibare Jacob, Vice, Moses Arogbo, Secretary General, Savwi Freeborn, Assistant Secretary, Phillip Jaman, Financial Secretary, Prosper Ekehor, Treasurer, Austine Adiga, Auditor and Ovoke Police, PRO.

In his speech shortly after the inauguration, Barr. Oshoture promised to revive the economic and social cultural activities of the community and make the economy more vibrant and productive during his tenure through a well-planned programme of action.

Barr. Oshoture said he and the executive will ensure they increase the tempo of business and economic activities of the community; as well maintain peace, law and order.

He said his administration will empower the youths and the women to enable them generate income to sustain their livelihood, adding that there shall be vitality and development in the community.

According to him “My administration will set up the Obi-Ayagha Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society that will be opened to every contributing member of the community at a very low interest rate. We shall also focus on agriculture and encourage farmers in all areas. We shall diversify from the cultivation of cassava alone, but will shift into other crops such as sweet potatoes, tomatoes, pepper, cucumber which can now grow well on our land.”

He disclosed that his administration shall also focus on education by introducing community library service for students, pupils of Obi-Ayagha Community, stressing that in collaboration with Obi-Ayagha Elite Forum shall relentlessly pursue and obtain government approval for Obi-Ayagha Secondary School and pledge to fully support the Digital Economic Centre established in Obi-Ayagha to be fully operational and promised to improve on the revenue generation mechanism of the community as well take proper survey of the extent of Obi-Ayagha community land and initiate developmental plan for the community.

Barr. Oshoture stated that his administration remains concerned with security of lives and property in the community, assuring that they shall enhance vigilante groups and make them fill the gap of the police and must work in tandem with his administration.

He proceeded to establish the Education Committee, Light Committee, Revenue Committee, Obi-Ayagha town planning and development committee as well as Agriculture yield enhancement committee and cooped ex-officials and Elders-in-council for effective administration and called for cooperation to achieve his target.

In his farewell speech, the out gone President, Mr. Michael Egedegbe said his administration makes some remarkable achievements such as expanding the secondary school, improvement on human capital development, facilitated the establishment of computer training centre through the Federal Government / NGO and specifically thanked their illustrious son, Rt. Rev. Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, Member representing Ughelli South, North and Udu Federal Constituency (NASS) Abuja for their support.

The Spiritual Father of the Day, His Grace, Archbishop Eddy Bebor congratulated the new executive and commended the youths for ensuring a smooth handover of power, advising them to be purposeful while working hard to improve on their living standard and maintain peace throughout the community.

He urged them to be strong and committed and God will bless, protect and grant them wisdom to lead the people
