… Receives Hundreds Of Decampees From Accord, APC
By Patrick Ochei
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has inaugurated her Campaign Council’s Secretariat in Issele-Uku, the headquarters of Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Wednesday 14th December, 2022.
Cutting the inauguration tape, the PDP Senatorial Party Chairman, Chief Moses Iduh thanked all party leaders in Aniocha North for the synergy that has brought about the unveiling of the party’s Secretariat and kick-off of campaign rally in the local government area.
The Chairman said, “It is a new dawn in the PDP family in Aniocha North; this is evident that Aniocha North will no longer be among the least voting LGAs like in the previous elections, but will come first this time.
“I am saying this because, it is not common to have a Local Government Area producing three candidates vying for various elective offices at the same time. I don’t expect you to let us down; you must brace up to the challenge because, to whom much is given, much is expected.
“From what I can see today, it shows that Aniocha North is well prepared for the coming election. You will not only produce 5/5 candidates for us, but you will come first in the ranking of those LGAs who are positioned to give the PDP the highest number of votes across the state.
“Moreover, I must sound a note of warning to any member who has been indulging in unwholesome behaviour, especially those doing anti party. Except you want to work against the PDP and determined to frustrate Governor Okowa and others in the race, anti party will not do you any good. We need peace, let us work as a party to deliver all our candidates. That is my appeal to you and that is the message of the party”, Iduh admonished.
In the same vein, the Director General of the PDP Aniocha North Campaign Council, Deacon Chuks Nwaebuni, in his address of welcome, asked all Party Faithful to forgive any member that has offended them, including the candidates so as to move in synergy to achieve the aim of the PDP in rescuing Nigeria and the States.
His words, “This occasion is epochal in the sense that it marks a new beginning of political culture in Aniocha North. What has brought us together today, is stronger than our individual feelings. Therefore, we must resist that feeling of bitterness and resentment against one another in order to work with a collective mindset and mandate to deliver our candidates.
“Forgive me if I had sinned against you and forgive any candidate that has offended you. The task ahead of us is to deliver PDP five over five. We must deliver Atiku/Okowa, we must deliver Sheriff/Onyeme, we must deliver Ned Nwoko, we must deliver Ndudi Elumelu and we must deliver Emeka Nwaobi”, Nwaebuni announced.
Meanwhile, the candidates were given opportunities to speak and they all thanked party leaders and members for their continued guidance and support to their aspirations.
They pledged to remain loyal to the party’s structure and guiding rules in the interest of fulfilling the party’s agenda for the benefit of the people of Delta State and Nigeria in general.
Chief Nkem Okwuofu also spoke to party members, appealing to them to support all the candidates of the party, adding that it is sacrosanct to obey the party’s decision to support all the five candidates representing the Party for various elective offices.
The highpoint of the rally was when over 500 defectors from Accord Party and All Progressives Congress comprising of different wards across the local government area, came out to severe ties with the aforementioned political parties while declaring their membership of the PDP.
One Chiejine Dominic, a former Accord member from Ubulubu, came out and denounced Accord, insisting that his leaving the party with his followers marked the end of Accord in Ubulubu.
He added that they were almost behaving abnormally because of the name they were answering – Accord… Ogbogbo, affirming that they were now free by the reason of dumping the no-mean-well party to support a chosen and anointed candidate in the person of Hon. Emeka Nwaobi.
Also, one Onyegasi Okechukwu Frank, a graduate from Ukwunzu denounced APC, saying he was glad to have left a party of misfortune to return to his original party the PDP.
He acknowledged that the philanthropy of Prince Ned Nwoko and the impeccable personality of Hon. Nwaobi played a role in changing his mindset to return to the PDP.
Equally, one Chukwuma from Ogbe-Otu in Issele-Uku was among those that left APC to return to the PDP and he expressed the joy that Hon. Nwaobi’s achievements made it possible.
As if that was not enough, a group of market women and men association led by Mrs. Kate Dunkwu, who were previously supporting APC, defected to the PDP; while another Northern Indigenes Group living in Onicha-Olona also returned to work for the PDP.
The two groups accused APC of luring them into more pains and misery, just as they begged to be accommodated as bona fide members of the PDP going forward.
In his vote of thanks, the LGA Party Chairman, Dr. Charles Ochei appreciated all party leaders and members for the conviviality that was displayed during the rally, maintaining that such atmosphere had given a clear indication that PDP would sweep the local government area in landslide.
He further called on those still harbouring anti party tendencies in their hearts to drop such and key into the resolve of party leaders to collectively work for the all round victory of the PDP come 2023.
