Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa said his administration has put in place state-of-arts facilities for the promotion of sporting activities.
Okowa stated this at the Zenith Bank Delta Headmasters’ Cup final held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asabe, the state capital.
The governor, who was  represented by his deputy, Kingsley Otuaro, maintained that the state government was determined to continually encourage the development of sports in the state.
He noted that the state was ready to partner with all well-meaning organisation to promote sports not only in Delta State but the country at large.
Okowa appreciated Zenith Bank for sponsored grassroots football competition, noting that the fiesta had helped to discover budding football stars.
The GMD/CEO Zenith Bank PLC, Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said that the Zenith Bank Delta State Headmasters’ Cup had created the platform and opportunity for discovery of budding football stars from where they were nurtured to optimize their skills for them to blossom over time.
Onyeagwu, who was represented by the Regional Manager, Mr Lucky Ighade, noted that the bank was poised to continually pay critical attention to areas of partnership especially in sports development.
While saying that Zenith Bank would keep faith in its earlier resolve to catch them young, Onyeagwu pointed out that the unifying effect of the competition helps in physical development as well as foster the good tenets of discipline.
Its will  be noted that the 2023 edition saw 610 primary schools across the state registered to participate in the competition.
The final match ended on penalty shootout after 3 – 3 of play, Owa Model Primary School own the shootout on 3 – 1 to overcoming Ogedegbe Primary School, Warri.
The highlight of the football event was the presentation of s Royal Saloon bus and a cash price of one million naira (N1m) to Owa Model Primary School, while Ogedegbe primary, Warri goes home with Seven hundred thousands naira (N700,000.00).
